Obesity and Prostate Cancer Detection: Insights from Three National Surveys

Obesity has reached epidemic proportions in the US, with about 75% of men being above the desired body weight. Existing evidence supports an association between obesity and prostate cancer progression and mortality, but obese men tend to have lower PSA scores, which results in fewer biopsy referrals. This study recommends that physicians consider a patient’s body mass index when considering a biopsy referral.
